Position Description:
We are searching for an Electrical Engineer to join a growing Engineering Firm, primarily providing project engineering and design to the Veterans Administration. This position is open to mid-career and senior-level engineers.
Project types include the Department of Veterans Affairs, Healthcare & Federal, Commercial, Data Centers, Industrial, and Military.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- You will be designing complicated and various electrical systems utilized within the respective markets listed above.
- Assist field staff, General Contractors, Architects, and Engineers to ensure compliance with specifications and design during construction.
- Create and evolve system designs from concept to final construction document phase.
- Perform analyses and apply problem-solving techniques to develop creative, innovative solutions.
- Perform occasional travel to customer sites in the United States for inspections of exiting and as-built power systems.
- Provide technical support for other engineers and designers in the MEP Department.
- Travel to and visit project construction sites to observe construction progress and compose field reports. (Site visits may require travel involving both day trips and some overnight stays to out-of-town project locations).
- Review, understand, and apply local, state, and federal codes and standards related to the design and construction of project facilities, including NEC (National Electrical Code).
- Must follow and adequately apply market-specific guidelines, the practices, and policies of the associated local and building codes, discipline, divisions, and firm.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and design independently with minimal project supervision from beginning to end.
- Ability to manage deadline-driven workload and work on multiple projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- We are targeting a minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design.
- A PE EE license in any state is preferred; however, an engineer that has passed the FE will be considered.
- Knowledge of electrical systems such as power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, grounding/bonding, fire alarm, telephone/data, and other low voltage systems (paging, nurse call, etc.).
- Familiarity with/ knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code), especially Chapter 517 for healthcare design.
- Required systems and software expertise includes AutoCAD, Revit, power analysis software such as EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM, and lighting photometric calculation software such as Visual.
- Healthcare and Federal design skills or related experience is a strong plus but not required.
